The artistic process employed by Nayan and Vaishali begins with a preliminary sketch, where they carefully capture the essence of each bird on paper. These initial drawings serve as the foundation for their intricate creations. Using 200 GSM watercolor paper, the duo meticulously trace multiple layers to form the structure of each bird. With unwavering focus and steady hands, they then embark on the delicate task of hand-cutting each layer, bringing the birds to life piece by piece.

Once the cutting is complete, Nayan and Vaishali employ watercolors with utmost precision, adding vibrant hues and subtle gradients to their paper masterpieces. The application of watercolors not only adds depth and realism but also showcases the artists’ profound understanding of each bird’s unique characteristics. The final step involves assembling the intricately crafted layers, resulting in captivating three-dimensional representations of these diminutive birds. Surprisingly, crafting each bird requires a painstaking 4 to 8 hours of work, and the smallest paper bird stands at a mere height of 1.8 cm.
