Artist Creates Nostalgic Pixel Tributes That Capture Gaming’s Golden Age

Jesús Campos “Nerkin” is a senior pixel artist and concept artist at The Game Kitchen (Seville, Spain), best known for his work on the acclaimed metroidvania games Blasphemous 1 & 2 (including DLCs Wounds of Eventide and Strife & Ruin) and Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound.

Specializing in pixel art environments, backgrounds, tileable geometry, NPCs and decorative elements, he also contributes concept art for dojo interiors, shop screens (like Muramasa) and promotional illustrations, as featured in the expanded Art of Blasphemous book and NEVA collection posters. His personal portfolio includes fan remakes like Sunset Riders and Sonic Mania tributes, showcasing crisp, atmospheric pixel work that blends retro gaming nostalgia with modern indie polish.
