The monument-memorial is considered the hallmark of the Tatsinsky district, Rostov Region, Russia. Dedicated to the 2nd Guards Tatsinsky tank corps, which defeated the air base in the village Tatsinskaya in December 1942, the memorial was opened in May 1983. Designed by artist-architect P. GPS Map Composed Of 68,000 Pinpoints Tracks The Territorial Nature Of Minnesota Wolves
The Voyageurs Wolf Project is a collaboration between the University of Minnesota and Voyageurs National Park which tracks and studies wolves throughout the warmer months. In 2018, the project studied six northern Minnesota packs, creating a map that showcases the intensely territorial way the animals behave, and how tightly they stick to their packs. The brightly colored line drawings were composed from 68,000 GPS locations of the six packs, with negligible crossover between the data-driven formations. Continue reading »

The Sky Swimming Pool At This Hotel Has A Window In It

When noa* (network of architecture), were asked to re-design Hotel Hubertus that sits at the foot of a ski and hiking area in Valdaora, Italy, they included a new 82 foot (25m) swimming pool. The pool sits almost 40 feet (12m) above the ground and is located between the two accommodation wings of the hotel. The infinity edge pool allows guests to have uninterrupted views of the valley below and the mountains in the distance. The pool has been wrapped in anthracite-colored stone, almost making the pool blend into mountains that surround it. Continue reading »

Sandow Birk’s exhibition at PPOW Gallery, Triumph of Hate, examines dark strains in the culture and politics of the United States, including Trump, gun violence, white supremacy, and greed. Birk’s body of work is unusual in that its explicit politics don’t read as overly didactic — a difficult line to walk successfully. Triumph of Hate is comprised of three distinct bodies of work: a series of satirical prints about Trumpian exploits, graphically violent paintings examining recent events, and a triptych of woodblock prints representing the battle of good versus evil throughout American history.
