Japanese photographer Masayuki Oki takes photos of stray cats in Tokyo. He documents everyday life of these cats considered “ugly” as they play, fight or nap. Masayuki said “I want to travel the country photographing all of Japan’s lovely stray cats.” But for now he is focused on the shitamachi area of the capital. Photographer Has Headed Into Areas Untouched By Sunlight And Found Creatures That Are Exploding With Colour
Wildlife photographer Danté Fenolio has headed into areas untouched by sunlight – deep seas, caves and underground – and found creatures that are exploding with colour.
First are these blue-spotted jawfishes, which live in tropical reefs in the eastern-central Pacific Ocean, including the Gulf of California. They live in burrows that they block themselves inside each evening. In the morning, they remove the debris so they can pass through the burrow opening again. Meet This Colorful Australian Peacock Spider
Several new species of peacock spider – just a few millimetres long and featuring extraordinary colours – have been discovered in Western Australia and South Australia. Jürgen Otto, a biologist from Sydney, has been researching the arachnids since 2005, and has gained a significant following online with his footage. He believes there are now 48 confirmed species of peacock spider within the Maratus genus, found across Australia but particularly in Western Australia – and many more awaiting confirmation. From the early 1900s to 1950s, Harry Whittier Frees enjoyed a modicum of fame for his delightfully costumed and posed photographs of baby animals. Though he began photographing cute animals in 1902, he did not begin dressing them in tiny human costumes until 1905. As the story goes, his family was passing a paper hat around the table at a birthday party, and someone placed it on a cat’s head.
