Ready to Move In? Mystery ‘Furnished Apartment’ Found In Berlin Subway
Employees of the Berlin subway discovered a fully furnished apartment in one of the abandoned subway tunnels, according to Berliner Kurier. The walls were complete with wallpaper and decorated with paintings. The apartment had a bed, television, chair, dresser and even a palm tree. An Artist Has Created A Glass Sculpture With Detailed Paintings That Can Only Be Seen From Close Up
The stained glass sculpture is primarily inspired by the idea of a giant floating fluorescent amoeba. Chinese Man Builds 7-Story Home For Dead Brothers
A peculiar tower-like building in Shandong has captured the attention of Chinese netizens, according to Daily Mail, after images of the structure appeared on the popular microblogging site Weibo. The building was constructed by Chinese farmer Hu Guangzhou, 55, to house his brothers, whom – if reports are to be believed – passed away a decade ago. Russian artist Salavat Fidai (previously) is obsessed with things in miniature, and he has previously painted miniatures on pumpkin seeds and carved sculptures into the graphite tips of pencils. For this project, he’s gone for something a little bit bigger, but not by much. Fred Herzog was born in Germany in 1930. Immigrating to Canada in 1952, he took odd jobs wherever he could find them. He rented a place at a rooming house, which is where he met Ferro Shelley Marincowitz, a South African who also happened to be a medical photographer. Herzog had an interest in photography; his camera was one of the few items he brought with him from Germany. Marincowitz encouraged that interest and soon they found a basement suite where they built a darkroom for both of them to share. Continue reading »

Spanish cartoonist Joan Cornellà combines black humor and extreme discomfort, most famously in his wordless, six-panel comics. Cornellà‘s work deals in mutilation and disfigurement, sadistic or oblivious violence, the alienation of modernity and a total disregard for human life. (I know. Extremely Detailed Illustration Created With 7 Million Ink Dots!
Xavier Casalta, the France-based artist has made career out of creating highly-detailed illustrations of everything from food to calligraphic letters. Casalta’s latest piece, called Autumn, is a throwback to the bygone/upcoming season. Using a technique called stippling, the artist places several ink dots in various patterns to create lines, and textures until an exquisite illustration is formed.
