Chinese Village Turns Artsy With Murals

How do you turn an unassuming village into a tourist site? By giving it a fresh coat of paint, just like what this village in the city of Huizhou in south China’s Guangdong Province did.

Zhongdong Village, located in the northern part of the city, was transformed into an artistic town after village invited artists to paint the façade of its houses. The frescoes have given some ramshackle buildings in the village a fresh new look. The frescoes reflect the traditions and customs of the Hakkas who live in the village, a group of Han Chinese migrants who moved from north to south China.
