Meet Jupp Wiertz, One of the Most Well-known German Poster Artists of the Early 20th Century

0

Jupp Wiertz, born in 1888 in the charming city of Aachen. After studying in Berlin and mastering the art of lithography in Leipzig, he began his career as a fine art printer in 1914. By the 1920s and ’30s, his talent had propelled him into the spotlight as one of the most celebrated poster artists of his time.

Wiertz’s artistic contributions extended to creating publicity work for the German Reichsbahn, designing captivating promotional pieces for Zeppelin production, and lending his creative vision to Lufthansa. His life was tragically cut short in 1939, when he passed away in Berlin at the age of 50. His legacy, however, lives on in the vibrant and striking posters he created during the early 20th century—a true testament to his extraordinary talent.
