Walking Houses: Superb Surreal Collages & Cardboard Sculptures by Seth Clark

American artist Seth Clark creates surreal architectural-anatomical hybrids, crafting towering figures from crumbling houses that appear to move and rest on human legs.

His mixed-media works—drawings, collages, and sculptures—blend the vulnerability of decaying structures with the enduring strength of the human body, breathing life into ruin. These “walking houses” evoke themes of memory, time, and resilience, with broken windows and collapsing walls serving as poignant metaphors. Based in Pittsburgh and recognized as Emerging Artist of the Year in 2015, Clark exhibits his work nationally, from major museums to art fairs across the U.S.
