Soft, Color-Rich Compositions And Precise Line Art That Make Every Illustration Feel Like A Page From A Gentle, Philosophical Storybook

Norino Shi is an award‑winning digital artist, illustrator, director and visual narrative artist, born in China and now based in New York. She focuses on uncertainty about the universe, life and death, using digital illustration, experimental short films and installation sculpture to build poetic, symbolic worlds.

Her work often features female figures in colorful, dreamlike landscapes and black‑and‑white line‑art sequences, weaving themes of migration, identity, grief and spiritual freedom. Norino studied illustration at the School of Visual Arts (BFA) and digital arts at Pratt Institute (MFA), and has worked as digital art coordinator, graphic designer and media intern in both the US and China. She describes herself as a “global citizen,” aiming to create a free spiritual world beyond current constraints of space and time, and is currently a freelance illustrator and program coordinator for an independent female bookstore and publishing agency.
