The California Illustrator Who Draws Warriors, Dragons, And Nostalgic Nightmares With Equal Enthusiasm

Erik Ly is a California-based digital illustrator who describes himself as “an extraverted introvert from Cali” and says he draws pictures with his arms. His work is rooted in fantasy, gaming, comics, and creature design, with a strong stream of samurai, knight, dragon, and Bloodborne-inspired imagery.

What stands out is the mix of nostalgia and action: the art feels like it comes from someone who loves old games, fantasy worlds, and archetypal heroes, but renders them with a current, polished digital hand. He also seems to like inking, doodles, and bold line-driven illustration, which gives the work a graphic, energetic pulse. The personal brand around Orbital Bloom adds a world-building layer that fits the fantasy tone.
