Artist Marianne Khalil Draws Places That Already Feel Like Part of a Story

Marianne Khalil is a New York–based background artist and illustrator with experience in animation and visual storytelling. She studied illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design and has described her interests in visual development, concept work, and the relationship between narrative and image-making.

Her background also includes art direction at Titmouse NYC, which places her within a professional animation context rather than only personal illustration. What makes her especially interesting is the combination of environment-focused work and a strong drawing foundation: alongside production-ready background art, she also shares observational studies and sketchbook work, which gives her practice both industry polish and a more intimate, hand-built sensibility.
