But most don’t realize that Jack London was a prolific photographer producing nearly 12,000 photographs during his lifetime, ranging from the poignant images of the ragged homeless living in London’s East End; images of the Russo-Japanese War while he was on assignment for the Hearst Syndicate; sensitive images of the South Seas islanders during his voyage aboard the Snark to the 1906 San Francisco earth quake devastation. The Bridges Along The River Thames In London Are To Be Lit Up As A Beautiful Piece Of Art
Six proposals have been shortlisted as part of the Illuminated River competition, which is aimed not only at delivering visually outstanding designs, but ones that make use of new technologies. The project was launched in June and has funding of £10 million (US$12.4 million) pledged to it so far. It will see 17 bridges illuminated from Chelsea to London’s financial district celebrating the river and making it more a part of London’s night-time economy.

These atmospheric images of London streets in the 1930s, before the Blitz, before the clean air act, before sodium lighting. It was a city of gloomy back streets lit by dim lamps, with forbidding alleys and the occasional welcoming light. Breathtaking Photos Of London From Above
High-flying photographer Jeffrey Milstein (previously), renowned for his aerial photos of US cities, snaps landmarks through the open door of a helicopter. This month he hired a chopper in London and amazingly he had just an hour to cover all the buildings he wanted to capture including Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, the glass roof of the British Museum and the Gherkin and Walkie Talkie towers in the City.

Levitating Shoes Baffle People On The Streets Of London
For his first ever public intervention in London, street artist Pejac (previously) created four installations of sneakers hanging from lampposts with a slight twist: the shoes dangle up instead of down. The head-scratching installations titled “Downside Up” can be found around East London.
