Socially Sarcastic and Humorous Sculptures by Mike Leavitt

Seattle artist Mike Leavitt critiques consumerism and waste through *Trash Talking*, a sculpture series made entirely from salvaged materials like cardboard and discarded packaging.

His works—ranging from Skittles-wrapped handguns to Apple-branded rotary phones—are full-scale replicas that use no paint, relying solely on the original packaging’s graphics. Inspired by his environmentalist father, Leavitt channels his passion for recycling into art that’s both witty and provocative. Since 2006, he’s used satire to spotlight how brands infiltrate daily life, revealing the hidden costs of addiction, excess, and ecological harm.
