Amazing Photos of Maserati Boomerang, The Futuristic Wedge-Shaped Concept Car of the 1970s

The Maserati Boomerang stands out as one of the boldest concept cars of the 1970s, redefining automotive design with its radical aesthetics.

First revealed as a static model in Turin in 1971 and later as a working prototype in Geneva in 1972, it was the brainchild of Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign. Its sharp wedge shape and space-age interior—complete with a steering wheel embedded in a circular instrument cluster—embodied the futuristic vision of the era. Powered by a 4.7-liter V8 from the Maserati Bora, the Boomerang combined high-performance engineering with avant-garde styling. Though it never reached production, its influence on car design remains legendary, and these images capture its daring spirit in full force.
