Hélène Havard Believes Pastel Colors Can Transport Viewers Into a Gentler Version of the World

Hélène Havard is a French fine-art and travel photographer who grew up in France, lived in England and Canada, and now resides in French Polynesia, where she also runs a separate wedding photography business.

Havard’s signature style uses soft, muted pastel color grading to give her images a vintage, dreamlike, almost nostalgic quality — as if capturing a place both in the present and in memory at once. She describes pastel tones as evoking tranquility and romance, deliberately transporting viewers into a gentler, more serene version of the world. Her ongoing series include Pacifica, The Quiet Season, Pacific Insomnia, and Out of Time, all exploring how specific places shape identity and memory.
