Creative Audiovisual Duo Turns Code, Modular Synths, and Light Into Audiovisual Worlds That Feel Like Living Organisms
404.zero is an audiovisual art duo formed by Kristina Karpysheva and Aleksandr Letsius. Since 2016, they have created generative performances, immersive light installations, modular electronic music, and TouchDesigner tools that treat sound, image, code, and physical space as one living system.
404.zero does not use visuals as a backdrop for music. Their performances make sound and image develop together in real time: modular synth signals, custom-built instruments, algorithmic motion, shifting light, and generative graphics respond as parts of the same audiovisual organism. Their work is deliberately “footage- and sample-free,” meaning the visuals emerge from code and live systems rather than pre-rendered clips.
The results are dense, painterly, and disorienting. Abstract forms appear to breathe, fracture, liquefy, or gather into vast dark environments, while analogue and modular sound gives the imagery physical weight. The duo’s work occupies a space between concert, ritual, experiment, installation, and digital sculpture.
