Kite Aerial photography (KAP) is a hobby and a type of photography. A camera is lifted using a kite and is triggered either remotely or automatically to take aerial photographs. The camera rigs can range from the extremely simple, consisting of a trigger mechanism with a disposable camera, to complex apparatus using radio control and digital cameras. Cross-Stitched Fashion Ads by Inge Jacobsen
A fashion campaign for a Danish jeweler is reworked in cross-stitch by artist Inge Jacobsen, with weight photographs transformed into a mashup of modern realism and soft, vintage-looking embroidery. Certain elements, like a chrome teapot and the jewelry that is the focus of the campaign, are left unstitched so they gleam strangely against the tactile qualities of the thread. Continue reading »
Bear Sculptures Embroidered with Anatomy
Bears are seemingly turned inside-out with embroidery of their anatomy in stunning lifelike sculpture by Deborah Simon. Measuring about two feet square, the sculptures reveal internal organs, musculature, skeletons and nerves. The series highlights how human desire for their pelts puts these majestic creatures in danger.
“Bears are the ultimate stuffed animals; both the iconic plush toy and the prized taxidermy specimen for hunters,” says Simon. “Most of the sculptures deal with vulnerability; the vulnerability that the animals face from environmental degradation, conflicts with people, suburban sprawl and poaching. I particularly find the dichotomy between the defanged, declawed childhood toy and the fierce reality of a top predator fascinating.” Continue reading »
‘World’s Worst’ Waxworks Collection Sold
Louis Tussauds House of Wax in the English seaside town of Great Yarmouth had been quietly disappointing customers for over 50 years when it rose to prominence in 2008 after being labelled “the world’s worst waxworks.” The museum shut down last year after owners June and Peter Hayes retired, but this month the collection of unlife-like models of stars, athletes and royalty found a new home when they were snapped up by an anonymous buyer from the Czech Republic. The waxwork heads above, if you haven’t already guessed, are of ’70s heartthrobs and “Starsky and Hutch” actors Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul. Of course they are. The Women’s Motorcycle Exhibition
Lanakila MacNaughton is a Portland based photographer and motorcyclist. Involved in many outdoor sports from a young age, Lana began documenting her experiences through photography. After developing a passion for motorcycles in her early twenties, she started documenting many facets of motorcycle culture through her lens. Lana shoots in medium format on a Hasselblad CM.
“I created The Women’s Motorcycle Exhibition to document the new wave of modern female motorcyclists. I want to reveal the brave, courageous and beautiful women that live to ride. The show is a vehicle which promotes a new perception of female empowerment and inspires an independence and liberation through motorcycling. The Women’s Motorcycle Exhibition is a traveling show. I hope to help discover and present female riders from all different communities, riding backgrounds, styles, and influence connectivity amongst riders from these different areas. The House that was Deliberately Built Upside Down

Eight-year-old Girl Keeps Coyote as Family Pet
Hailey Hanestad thinks nothing about nuzzling up to the animal, called Wiley, and even dozes off with him on her bed. Wiley has been a treasured member of the family since being rescued by Hailey’s dad, Rick, three years ago. Today he’s thought to be just one of two coyotes in the US that have become domesticated after being born in the wild. And at the Hanestad farm, in Wisconsin, he’s treated just like a dog – sitting by the fire in the winter, going for walks on a lead and even playing fetch with a tennis ball. He’s got his own comfy chair and enjoys a diet of venison and fried eggs. He even has to have his meat cooked – because he won’t eat it raw.

Dad Spends 7 Years on Incredibly Detailed Maze!
Some people have hobbies. Other people are obsessive. But when the two cross paths, this is what you get. Japanese twitter user @Kya7y recently unearthed an incredibly detailed maze that her father created almost 30 years ago. Perfectly Camouflaged Log Cabin by Hans Linberg Looks Like a Pile of Firewood
If you were walking through the woods and came across this looming in the distance, you would probably think that it was just a large stack of cut logs. From all angles, it seems like a normal pile of firewood. However, as you get closer, you’ll see that something doesn’t look quite right. It’s not just a bunch of logs, but something much, much better.
The cabin was designed by a man named Piet Hein Eek for Dutch performer, Hans Liberg (the man in the pictures). The outside is made of wood that is covering plastic and a steel frame, making the walls look like logs. Right now, the cabin is being used as a recording studio, but with this design, it could be used as a camping cabin or hunting blind. Continue reading »
When Lego Meets Star Wars
If there were two things I absolutely loved when I was a kid, it was Lego and Star Wars. So when I saw these incredible miniature photographs by Avanaut of the snow battle on the planet Hoth from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back using only Lego men, memories of my childhood come rushing back in a storm of fanboy nostalgia.
The creator of these photographs is Finnish illustrator and designer Vesa Lehtimäki or “Avanaut”. He started making his first Lego pictures set on the snowy planet of Hoth back in 2009 and has slowly been adding more and more over the years.

Sir Charles Barkley on Instagram
Over just 18 months, Sir Charles Barkley, a French bulldog from Seattle, Washington, has become an internet sensation. His daily photos have attracted him an Instagram following of more than 115,000 fans. Named after the former basketball player Charles Barkley, Sir Charles has been racking up the orange hearts on Instagram since the first day his owners, Melissa and Paul, met his breeders and took pictures of the adorable pup. Shetland ponies wearing cardigan sweaters are the official ambassadors of Visit Scotland tourism campaign. Photographer Rob McDougall captured two cute ponies named Fivla and Vitamin dressed in traditional Fair Isle Scottish cardigans to celebrate the Year of Natural Scotland. Their onesies were made out of Shetland wool by a local knitter Doreen Brown. The ponies live at the Thordale Shetland Stud Centre. Continue reading »

When it comes to engagement photos, it can be a challenge to come up with something original.
Too often, pictures can be cliched, even cheesy. Whether it be a couple holding hands, the woman with her arms draped lovingly around her man, perhaps starting dotingly into his eyes… a flower in her hair maybe? It’s all been done before. But throw in a bit of role reversal and the pictures take on a new life in a refreshing and quirky manner.
Marian Schembari, a San Francisco-based marketing manager and blogger, along with her fiancé, Elliot Speed, began coming up with ideas for photos to crack each other up. They summoned the help of photographer Malia Moss.
‘When we started planning our wedding last October and looking at Pinterest boards of engagement photos, it was like people totally lost their personalities.’ ‘We on the other hand acted like idiots and Elliot posed as a traditional blushing bride. Last Delivery of Brand New VW Campervans Arrives in the UK After Brazil Factory Stops Production of Iconic Vehicles
The last ever delivery of brand new Volkswagen campervans has arrived in Britain, heralding the end of an era for the iconic ‘hippy bus’. Ninety-nine of the final batch of vans rolled off the production line and onto a container ship bound for Britain after manufacture ceased for good in Brazil in December. The consignment has just arrived at the only British importer, but already most of them have been snapped up by enthusiasts more than happy to pay the £35,000 starting price.
They are the last brand new campers in all of Europe.

Heartwarming Moment: A Husky was Freed After Falling Through the Ice on Her Morning Walk
The dramatic moment an exhausted pet dog was plucked from a frozen lake after falling through the ice has been caught on camera. Firefighter Sean Coyle risked his own safety to venture out on to frozen Pleasure Bay off Castle Island in South Boston during the rescue. Sylvie, a 13-year-old husky, had plunged into the frigid water during her morning walk.

The Global ‘No Pants Subway Ride’ 2014
The annual ‘No Pants Subway Ride’, which involves wearing no trousers on the underground, has seen commuters around the globe stripping off on public transport. Pictures of people in their underwear have been streaming in from across the world, with cities such as London, Berlin, Brussels, Hong Kong and Sydney taking part. The event begun as a joke in 2002 when New York acting group Improv Everywhere decided to shock members of the public by taking off their trousers.
A statement on their website said: ‘The mission started as a small prank with seven guys and has grown into an international celebration of silliness, with dozens of cities around the world participating each year.’ Continue reading »

Polar Bears in Sunset
They’re usually pictured against a bright white backdrop but this family of polar bears bathed in a vibrant reds, yellows and oranges as they watched a glorious sunset in Alaska. The stunning shots capture the moment a female bear and her two cubs enjoyed the last warm rays of the sun at the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Kaktovik. Delivery Man Creates ‘Grafilthy’ Images in the Dirt on the Side of his White Transit
A white van man is getting his hands dirty to create stunning works of art on the side of his unwashed van.
Rick Minns, also known as Ruddy Muddy, has created pictures including winter landscapes, children playing in the snow and a ship on high seas by scraping away the dirt on the side of his van. The 39-year-old, who works for Norfolk-based floral wholesaler Flowervision, has dubbed his work ‘grafilthy’ and enjoys entertaining onlookers as he goes about his daily work making deliveries to florists.
