The Beauty Of World’s Grandest Abandoned Hotels In Photographs By Thomas Windisch
Grand banqueting halls, opulent lobbies and vast ballrooms; you could easily be forgiven for thinking this was a collection of photographs was documenting some of Europe’s grandest hotels. However, a closer look will reveal the majestic rooms to be engulfed in swathes of dust and moss; hotels that once hosted royals and high society abandoned to the elements. This is the latest result of urban exploration photography, going beyond “no entry” signs to capture images of dilapidated buildings across Europe. Photographer Thomas Windisch, from Graz in Austria, indulged his passion for photography by traveling across the continent, visiting over 100 abandoned hotels along the way. People Of The World: Māori In Stunning Photographs By Jimmy Nelson
The Māori are the indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand. The Māori originated with settlers from eastern Polynesia, who arrived in New Zealand in several waves of canoe voyages at some time between 1250 and 1300 CE. Over several centuries in isolation, the Polynesian settlers developed a unique culture that became known as the “Māori”, with their own language, a rich mythology, distinctive crafts and performing arts. Early Māori formed tribal groups, based on eastern Polynesian social customs and organisation. Horticulture flourished using plants they introduced, and later a prominent warrior culture emerged. The Royal Penthouse suite at the President Wilson hotel in Geneva, Switzerland is definitely the most spectacular hotel suite worldwide. It is 18,000 square feet in size, has 12 bedrooms, armoured doors and bullet proof windows, an executive boardroom, a Steinway grand piano, a 103 inch television that costs $130,000 and a personal staff that includes a chef and a butler. Visitors have included Bill Clinton and Mikhail Gorbachev amongst other and at $81,000 a night, you have to be part of the wealthy elite to even consider visiting this particular hotel suite in your lifetime. World’s First 3D Printed Car
The world’s first 3D printed car – the Stratti – was built in just 45 hours at the International Manufacturing Technology Show which took place between September 8 – 13, 2014. The Strati, which is Italian for layers, has a chassis body made of one solid piece and has a top speed of 40mph. The tyres, seats, wheels, battery, wiring, suspension, electric motor and window shield of the revolutionary vehicle were made using conventional methods.

Y40 Deep Joy – the World’s Deepest Pool
Y-40 is projected by Architect Emanuele Boaretto and supported by the “Boaretto Group Hotel and Resort”. The name Y-40 is inspired by mathematical symbols. “Y” is the ordinate axis of the Cartesian system and “–40” means the world’s record depth or our pool- that is 40 meters underground. Y-40 is filled with thermal spa water. 4300 cubic meters maintained at a temperature of 32-34°C. The pool is 40 meters deep with a surface area measuring 21x18m. It has various intermediate depths and caves for technical scuba diving.
