3D Artist Builds Cinematic Worlds Where the Human Figure Is Tiny, the Planets Are Close, and Reality Has Quietly Stopped Working

Liam Pannier, a French freelance CG artist, 3D motion designer, and art director based in Saint-Pierre and Miquelon. He creates surreal, space-centered imagery that combines astronauts, luminous planets, zero-gravity scenes, dramatic scale, and quiet emotional storytelling.

Pannier’s signature images often place a lone astronaut in an impossible situation: floating above a surreal planet, drifting through a room that has opened into space, standing beneath an enormous celestial object, or suspended in a landscape where gravity no longer follows ordinary rules. The cosmos is not just a science-fiction setting in his work; it becomes a visual language for solitude, wonder, pressure, escape, and perspective.

His scenes feel cinematic because they rely on a clear emotional contrast: the human figure is tiny and vulnerable, while the surrounding environment is immense, polished, colorful, and unknowable. Yet there is often playfulness in the imagery too. Bright palettes and strange object combinations keep the work from becoming purely bleak, making each composition feel like a dream that is equal parts beautiful and disorienting.
