New Stunning Entries Of The 2016 National Geographic Nature Photographer Of The Year Contest
The 2016 National Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year contest is accepting entries in one or all of four categories: Landscape, Environmental Issues, Action and Animal Portraits. The grand-prize winner will receive a 10-day trip for two to the Galápagos with National Geographic Expeditions and two 15-minute image portfolio reviews with National Geographic photo editors.
Empire Rising
Built in complete darkness, a complex city is being constructed. A wild swarm of Honeybees (Apis mellifera) arriving in the spring, is developing natural wax comb formations to support the colony’s future larvae, and food storage. When this colony is at it’s strongest, it will eventually divide. The majority of the bees swarming to a new location with the queen and begin the process of reproducing all over again, thus spreading their genes farther. Russian Photographer Captures Breathtaking Photos Of Milky Way Mirrored On Salt Flats In Bolivia

In May 2016, Russian photographer, Daniel Kordan, traveled to the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia – the world’s largest salt flat and took some photos that look out of this world. Using a Nikon D810A astrophotography DSLR and a 14-24mm f/2.8 Nikon lens, he managed to capture the Milky Way being reflected on the flooded salt flat at night, and the results are absolutely breathtaking. Atkins Ciwem Environmental Photographer Of The Year 2016 Winners
The overall awards winners have been announced in the 2016 Atkins Ciwem environmental photographer of the year competition, an annual international showcase for thought-provoking photography and video that tackles a wide range of environmental themes.
The environmental photographer of the year 2016 is awarded to Sara Lindström for her imposing photograph “Wildfire”.
Swedish-born Sara picked up photography while studying in South Africa, and is now based in the Canadian Rockies. Her projects have seen her travel across more than 50 countries, capturing the beauty of the more remote corners of the Earth. “It was an exceptionally warm day in July in southern Alberta when I came across this massive pinkish smoke plume rising high towards the sky. From Britain to Denmark and France to Norway, these are among Europe’s eeriest abandoned Second World War fortifications. Among the military structures pictured are those at Widemouth Bay in Cornwall, Hayling Island in Hampshire and Studland Bay in Dorset. They were also photographed at Lamba Ness in the Shetlands, Newburgh in Aberdeenshire and Cramond Island in the Firth of Forth.

Wildlife Photographer Of The Year 2015: First Glimpse Of Finalists’ Images
Wrestling Komodo dragons, a shark-repellent surfboard and a concerned gorilla are among the images captured on camera by finalists in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2015 competition. The competition attracted over 42,000 entries from both professionals and amateurs from 96 countries.
The winning images will be announced on 13 October, and an exhibition of the 100 shortlisted and winning images opens on 16 October at the Natural History Museum in London. These 100 images will also be part of an international tour spanning six continents, allowing millions of people to marvel at the beauty and variety of the natural world.
IBTimesUK presents a first look at ten of the finalists. A full gallery of winners will be published as soon as they are announced.
