There are a lot of unusual sight around the globe, but Slope Point of New Zealand is differently natural wonder. Slope Point is the southernmost tip on New Zealand’s South Island. The place is systematically blasted by great force of cold wind, that causes the trees to bend and transform their appearance. The wind from the Southern Ocean attacked the trees, as they grew. Fantastical New Worlds Created From Realistic Landscapes By Catherine Nelson
The beautiful fictional worlds by Catherine Nelson are made by combining her wonderful mixed skills originating from the art education in painting received at the College of Fine Arts in Sydney and digit photography. Catherine produced a specific photographic technique by connecting many images in a photo series, and creating circular photos that embrace lovely flora and fauna in imaginary new worlds. According to an artist Adriano Rodrigues: “For my final project for Photography, I created a series using professional make up that would react to the UV light of a black light. First off, I want to thank Sarah Luke for her patience as a model and Breeanna Nichols for her stellar work at applying professional grade make up on Sarah. This and formost was a group effort, we simply intended to make something that capured our imaginations and to shake up the concrete “boring” world. This was a one day process, took roughly 7 hours to create and photograph and an additional 6 hours of editing images. Russian artist Salavat Fidai (previously) is obsessed with things in miniature, and he has previously painted miniatures on pumpkin seeds and carved sculptures into the graphite tips of pencils. For this project, he’s gone for something a little bit bigger, but not by much. Extremely Detailed Illustration Created With 7 Million Ink Dots!
Xavier Casalta, the France-based artist has made career out of creating highly-detailed illustrations of everything from food to calligraphic letters. Casalta’s latest piece, called Autumn, is a throwback to the bygone/upcoming season. Using a technique called stippling, the artist places several ink dots in various patterns to create lines, and textures until an exquisite illustration is formed. Artist Ai Weiwei wants you to get in touch with your inner child, and he created these fantastical sculptures out of bamboo and paper to help you do it. Weiwei created these massive pieces for Le Bon Marche using kite-making techniques. The exhibit is titled, appropriately, “Er Xi” or Child’s Play, and the scenes are made up of characters from the 2,000-year old collection of tales called Shan Hai Jing, a series of stories that have been told to children for ages. Photographer Roland Miller Has Created Fascinating Photos Of NASA’s Abandoned Launch Sites
The Mercury, Gemini and the Apollo Missions of the late 1950s and 60s still remain one of NASA’s greatest achievements — one that enabled humans, for the first time in history, to leave the surface of the Earth for another heavenly body. This monumental task was made possible through the hard work and genius of thousands of engineers, and the incredible infrastructure they built along the coast of Florida. With the advent of reusable rockets, private space programs and a change in NASA’s goals, unfortunately, many of these facilities were abandoned and left to the elements. American photographer Roland Miller has spent 25 years documenting these buildings in his photographs before they rot and crumble to the ground. Indeed, Miller estimates that about half of the locales he shot have already disappeared since he started shooting. Continue reading »
