In 1991, Mazda engineers designed a prototype vehicle that fit inside a Samsonite suitcase. Known as the Mazda Suitcase Car, this three-wheeled vehicle was powered by a 33.6cc two-stroke engine and could reach speeds of 30 km/h (19 mph).

The unique design included fold-out handlebars, a twistgrip throttle, and a differential for easy turning. It was built for internal company contests and showcased at auto shows but never made it to production. The prototype cost $5,000 and weighed 32 kg (71 lbs).
